Retail stocktaking for independent shops
We come to your premises. If you run a convenience store, an off-licence, a newsagent or a grocery shop, this is our main work: independent counting on your shop floor and in the stockroom that feeds it. You get a clear cost and retail picture for a handover, year-end, or internal check. You will be given a detailed summary of cost and retail value of the stock on the day.
What makes a retail count different
A retail stocktake follows the selling floor and the stockroom that feeds it. We move fixture by fixture so shelves, gondolas, counters and back-stock are included in one visit. Where your stock file and barcodes support it we use handheld EPOS scanners; where labels are missing, damaged or unsuitable we count by hand. The output is a retail-facing summary — quantities with retail value and a cost figure derived for the job — not a warehouse location dump.
On a business-transfer stocktake we count at retail price, then apply VAT and trade-recognised margins so buyer and seller share the same independent figures. Periodic and year-end retail jobs aim for an accurate stock-in-hand figure for accounts and stock control via periodic stocktakes.
Independent shops we count
Neighbourhood shops are the core of our work. In practice that means:
- Convenience stores and neighbourhood grocery shops
- Off-licences and alcohol-licensed convenience formats
- Newsagents and stationers
- Grocery shops, including South Asian and specialist grocers
- Pound shops, card shops and gift shops
- DIY, pet shops and fashion retailers
- High-street shops and small supermarket-style formats
- Post offices with retail stock
